This is a video of the band Maria Iskariot from Gent in Belgium, live in Groningen, the Netherlands. They played in October 2023 as part of a tour, together with Amsterdam punk band Hang Youth.
On Saturday 14 October 2023, they played in Gebroeders de Nobel in Leiden, the Netherlands.
This photo from Leiden shows Helena Cazaerck, vocals/rhythm guitar in Maria Iskariot.
Helena is the author of their song Lief Klein Kind, recently released as a single on Burning Fik, the record label of Hang Youth. That song has also been played in Punks Not Dead Radio in the UK.
This photo shows Helena, and drummer Simon, the only male member of Maria Iskariot.
To the left of Helena, their solo guitarist. Playing a bit Johnny Ramone-ish downstrokes during fast songs, vaguely reminiscent of Dire Straits during relatively slow songs.
A great concert, according to the audience in the jampacked hall. A young audience, over half female.
During Maria Iskariot’s last song, the audience invaded the stage.
They applauded.
