This 27 September 1980 photo is by Cheap ‘n’ Nasty roadie Dorith. She photographed some of the audience during the Cheap ‘n’ Nasty set in the Vondelpark in Amsterdam during the big national pro-choice demonstration there against government plans to attack women’s rights to abortion.

Amsterdam punks, do you recognize yourself in this photo?

Cheap ‘n’ Nasty EP fanzine review rediscovered

Orgie fanzine 1981 Cheap 'n' Nasty Covergirl EP review

Orgie fanzine 1981 record reviews

Yesterday, this 1981 page from Zeist, the Netherlands punk fanzine Orgie #7, p. 11 was rediscovered (thanks, Michael)!

It has record reviews of Utrecht all-girl band The Nixe. Of Utrecht by then all-boy band Rakketax. Of Amsterdam band The Studs. Of the Miranda’s from Breda.

And of the Cheap ‘n’ Nasty Covergirl EP.

That review says (translated):

Covergirl EP on Smashstick Plastic Smapla001. This again is such a record that really upsets me, a terribly good single. I really know very little about this band, only that they are from Leiden. And that singer/saxophone player Herman used to make the fanzine Pin. There are four songs on this EP which all are really good. I personally think that Unknown and I’m a photo model are a little better than the rest. In these songs, the vocals by Terry and Herman alternate, and that sounds upsettingly well. This band clearly has a style very much all of their own and it sounds really professional.

Cheap ‘n’ Nasty and De Straks, The Hague 1981

This poster is about an 18 November 1981 concert at Het Paard van Troje in The Hague, by Cheap ‘n’ Nasty and De Straks.

Not on the poster, a short set by a third band, What’s My Name (the band in which Cheap ‘n’ Nasty saxophone player Raphaelle Devins did vocals/guitar, like she used to do in the Lou’s).

This was a night against nuclear cruise missiles.
