Cheap ‘n’ Nasty backdrop Leiden 1981, held by vocalists Herman and Terry, photo by Annelies
This 1981 photo is by Annelies. She was the Cheap ‘n’ Nasty photographer in the 1980s, making pix, eg, for the cover of our Covergirl EP.
We lost sight of her.
Very recently, we rediscovered Maria, our drummer (when founding drummer Maarten could not play because of secondary school). Now we have also rediscovered her friend Annelies after forty years. So fantastic!
It turns out that Annelies has a treasure trove of unpublished negatives (she often could not afford to have them printed then), both colour and B/W, of many bands. Including the 1981 Ruts DC + Cheap ‘n’ Nasty + Miami Beach Girls (in which Maria was the singer) concert in Tilburg. Adele Bertei’s Bloods from New York City in Leiden. The November 1980 Zounds, Cheap ‘n’ Nasty, Razors, Slime and other bands’ concerts in SO36 and KZ36 in Berlin. And of the Cheap ‘n’ Nasty/Miami Beach Girls gig in Paradiso in Amsterdam.
Maarten has offered to help Annelies with scanning these photos so it will be possible for all people to see these bits of history on the internet.
